Can I just say that I LOVE Mary Calmes?! I always love her books, and this was no exception. I have trouble with some short stories because you don't get to see the relationship develop, or you don't feel the chemistry between the two MCs because the story is too short, so the characters experience insta-love. Not so in this book... I felt conflicted along with Brian, I felt his pain over being around Varro and seeing him with all the women, and knowing that he will never have him. I think it was awful of Varro's family to ask him to put his feelings and pain aside to be part of Varro's racing team so that Varro was ok. If they truly considered him their son, I don't think they would put Varro's well-being above Brian's.
